I communicate things.

I have spent the vast majority of my career focusing on justice-oriented marketing and communications. Currently, I work as the Communications Specialist with the King County Regional Homelessness Authority.

  • While I am still learning more and growing the number of tasks I participate in this role, I currently focus on web and social media content, and frequently fill a number of graphic design needs.

  • My primary goal was to create cohesive messaging and communications around our core truth: Everyone is worthy of love.

For most of my time at REST, I was the only marketing and communications staff member, acting as a one-woman in-house creative agency. My daily work included writing, graphic design, website building and content management (WSIWYG, not coding), social media, and marketing emails. Several times a year, I would also create printed collateral for both fundraising and our programs. I got to help create immersive storytelling experiences for our annual fundraising gala, A Night of REST.

Some of my proudest accomplishments at REST have been working alongside Belief Agency to rebrand including creating content for and building our new website, and project managing, writing, and designing our 2017–2021 Annual Reports. Our 2019 Annual Report won Platinum in both the MarCom Awards and the Hermes Creative Awards. One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to participate in amplifying survivors' stories through our Annual Reports, A Night of REST Gala experiences, and donation campaigns. I had the honor of helping raise millions of dollars to fight sex trafficking through events and solicitation campaigns. In 2019, I lead the transition to a new giving platform and website, resulting in doubled online donations over the following three years.

  • As Seattle Goodwill's Communications Coordinator, I focused mainly on digital communications, including social media, blog, and eventually took over the content management of all of seattlegoodwill.org.

For the entire duration of my time at Goodwill, I produced the bulk of, and managed all of the blog content on seattlegoodwill.org, publishing over 440 blogs under my own byline—including DIY content, employee and volunteer profiles, events blogs, and more.

I also managed all social media channels and content. My favorite accomplishments involve launching a brand Instagram account, and taking it to be the fourth largest Goodwill Instagram account in the country with over 2,600 followers, growing the Facebook page to over 10,000 followers, and significantly increasing engagement on Twitter. I also managed all of Seattle Goodwill's social media ads, from copywriting and creating images, to setting budgets, targeting, and implementing.

Web & social media analytics also played a big part in my role—including monthly reporting as well as campaign performance evaluation and recaps.

*Joined SGW as a part time contractor 1/14, hired FTE 4/14.

  • Given the startup nature of the company, my role was extremely multi-faceted. On an average day, I’d manage the social media presences of about fifteen small businesses, write 5–8 blogs for a variety of clients, deeply engage with my one primary brand, and take on additional graphic design work including social media graphics, infographics, and restaurant menus.

  • At RUI I worked primarily on social media, but with a splash of graphic design. I managed the social media presences, including review sites, for 22 brands in 48 locations adding up to well over 200 pages to manage. I wrote marketing campaigns for social media, developed an engaged community around brands, wrote marketing copy, and did all of the graphic design work for social media posts. During my time with RUI, I grew the composite audience by over 30%, and increased engagement by over 60%.

*joined RUI as a contractor 2/13, hired FTE 4/13.

  • I don’t prefer living the freelancer life, but as I find projects that interest me, I take them on. I mostly focus on logo design and brand packages. I enjoy working with clients who are working from a deep sense of conviction and want their brand to reflect their convictions.

  • Again, I don’t prefer the freelance/consultant life, but when an organization or company comes to me with a passion for creating a unified brand beyond the logo—in how the brand is written about and expressed in values—I will take on consulting projects. I have worked with a variety of non-profit organizations helping align their values and mission.

Volunteer Work

I’ve also spent a lot of hours volunteering!

I am currently a volunteer board member with Seastr PNW, an organization providing opportunities and access for women in watersports and the maritime industry.

From 2010–2021, I was a volunteer front-of-house audio engineer for churches. I had the pleasure of setting up for and mixing live bands, spending over a decade honing my ear and growing in my ability to create beautifully blended music in live contexts.

From 2020–2022, I served as the External Communications Board Member with Seattle Women’s Hockey Club, creating weekly emails, running social media, and doing the bulk of external club marketing for fundraising events.

I am also an Ambassador for Women’s Pro Hockey Seattle, an organization working to bring a women’s pro hockey team to Seattle.
